So it’s time to get serious and take a good look at your habits and honestly ask yourself what’s stopping you! Most of the time there is just a couple of things that we hang on to and are too scared to change that stop us from achieving our goals.
I know for me my big weakness is sweets! Put some chocolate or cake in front of me and my mouth starts watering! Whereas you could put some chips, cheese and crackers around me and I could take it or leave it.
I’ve also learnt that once I have the really sweet stuff it’s hard for me to stop. I’ve now learnt to buy just what I need and tough it out afterward when I just want more. Although there is still the odd occasion that I go overboard or too many of the little extras start creeping in. It’s usually when I’m tired and stressed that the sugar cravings hit and I just want chocolate. Although I KNOW that it doesn’t actually make me feel better or fix the problem but once I’ve had some I just want more.
So anyway it’s time to do it tough and get uncomfortable. So for the next 14 days I’m going sugarfree! That means no chocolate, cakes, biscuits or treats. I will still have a pepsi max if I feel the urge but no super sweet chocolate or anything that sets me off.
I’ve also realised that I’ve started a bad habit of laying in bed for a bit too long in the mornings and using my coffee to get me going. My precious little munchkin has decided that he know likes to get up pretty early and I’ve started bringing him into our room to play while I lay in bed and have my coffee. It all sounds ok but the reality is that I end up laying around for too long and the morning ends up so rushed after that. I don’t actually get anymore sleep so I figured if I just got straight up and into it my day would be so much more relaxing and I’d be far less stressed.
So for the next 14 days the plan is:
- NO SUGAR
- Get STRAIGHT up out of bed. No coffee’s in bed except for Sundays!
- Alcohol is limited to 4 drinks per week
- No picking at food in between meals or while making meals.
So these are the little things that stop me from feeling the best I can so I’m going to tackle them head on and aim to develop some new habits.
So what’s holding you back????

Hi Hilde - great post :) I am the same as you in the sense that once I start on the sugar it's almost impossible to stop me. It is horrible and I watch it happening and seem so out of control. I am going to join you on your two week challenge. BRING IT ON :)
