About Me

I'm a 32 year old health & fitness fanatic! I run "Get Active Online" with my wonderful hubby Cam and when I'm not training others I'm off flying all over the countryside as a Flight Attendant. I strongly believe in practicing what I preach so this blog is all about my personal health & fitness journey, plus lots of good training & nutrition info.
If you have a question you want answered or just want to say hi, please leave me a comment.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

PREGNANCY WEEK 15 & 16
July 05, 2010 at 08:08:08 MOOD: Feeling good!! If I wasn’t getting fatter then I’d forget I was pregnant. The difference between the first trimester and the second is truly quite amazing. Well it is for me anyway, going from feeling like death every day to feeling pretty good is fantastic. It’s amazing how quickly you actually forget how horrible you felt, although I must say I’m VERY glad to be feeling good and back to “normal”.
Physically I’m not noticing too many changes except for the expanding body. I do find that by the end of the day and especially if I’m up late flying that I get quite bloated and if I didn’t look pregnant at the start of the flight I do by the end. I’ve actually ordered a maternity uniform although at this stage it’s a bit too huge to wear and actually seems amazing that I’ll get that big. So right now I’m still wearing my old uniform and have just gone up two sizes.
FOOD: Pretty good for the first few days of the week and then the sweets start to creep in. I’m finding Cam and I are BOTH eating a lot more sweets on the weekends which we REALLY don’t need! We’ve also been going out a lot more which is actually lovely although means a bit more not so good food. Yesterday we headed up to Port Douglas to meet some friends and had a lovely lunch on the Marina. The good thing is that I generally can’t eat too much in one sitting as I seem to fill up quite quickly.
I am aiming to cut the sweets out a bit more this week and aiming to be pretty good during the week and just relax a bit on the weekend (rather than all week). I really don’t see any reason to be eating in excess when it’s really just an excuse when you’re pregnant and one that seems to be encouraged! I haven’t weighed myself for about a week but I think I’ve put on about 4kg so far although this can jump up dramatically after too many treats. I’m not so much stressing about the weight gain as I know it has to come but at the same time I don’t think I need to eat crap just because I’m pregnant. I’ve actually stocked up on salad goodies again and it’s back to basics this week.
TRAINING: Again this seems to go well at the start of the week and then as the weekend approaches less and less gets done. No reason, just slackness! I could use pregnancy as an excuse but in reality exercise has just become not as much of a priority over the last few weeks. Last week I was so busy doing programs and finishing off the renovations before visitors arrived that my training took a back seat. I still squeezed in 4 x cardio sessions:
2 x 5km Jog
2 x 5.3km Hill Walk
Again rpm and weights got neglected and this week training is getting put first again!! I know I feel better when I exercise and just need to get into the habit again. I think I’m just scared to go back to rpm as it’s been so long. There is a lunch time class on today and I AM GOING unless I get called out for a trip somewhere.
Anyway not too much exciting stuff to report, feeling good and just hanging to feel bubs move. I’ve got another scan in another couple of weeks and hopefully we will be able to find out if we are having a boy or a girl! I don’t really mind what we have although Cam and I are both hanging to find out so we can get all organised. I’ve already bought a cot and change table as there was a sale on although just waiting until after the next scan until I put it all up (I’ll stop being nervous once the baby is born, he, he!) I still can’t decide what pram I want and unfortunately Cairns is a little limited on choices. I might have to do a bit of shopping when we go to Adelaide next month. I’m toying between Mountain Buggy, Valco and possibly City Jogger (I think that’s what it’s called). If anyone has any tips, let me know as it’s all a bit confusing! I want something that is sturdy enough to jog with but not so huge you can’t take it shopping.
I don’t know if I mentioned I sold my old car and we upgraded to a more suitable family car! I didn’t think bubs would fit very well in my Celica and I don’t even know if I could have got out of the thing as I get bigger and bigger. So we’ve lashed out and bought a new Holden Captiva and loving it! It’s a bit of a change from the sports car although heaps of room to fit everything and so much nicer being up a bit higher.
Anyway enough rambling from me, it’s feedback time and I can already see lots of emails waiting for me. Have a fabulous week everyone.
Cheers, Hilds
