TIPS FOR SURVIVING CHRISTMAS

TIPS FOR SURVIVING CHRISTMAS

Christmas is a FANTASTIC time of year although it seems so many people get really stressed out, letting all of their good habits go out the window.

All the good habits that have been established throughout the year are gone and now everyone's living off cocktails, mince pies and rumballs!

I know Christmas is a time to be enjoyed but letting all good habits go out the window will only leave you feeling very worse for wear as the New Year rolls around.

So how do you cope with Christmas?

- Firstly realise that you can still enjoy Christmas without making a pig of yourself!

- Remember what Christmas is truly about (spending time with family and friends).

- Enjoy some Christmas treats, savoir every mouthful and then get back on track.

- Eat well whenever you can, just because it's Christmas time it doesn't have to mean weeks of eating junk. SAVE YOUR TREATS FOR CHRISTMAS DAY.

- Keep up your exercise routine. If there is one time you should be exercising it's when you're eating more and Christmas is a prime example of this.

Most gyms will shut down for couple of days although this doesn’t mean you can’t keep up some activity. You can run or walk ANYWHERE and I’ve included a basic full body workout you can also do anywhere.

So don't let all your good habits go out the window, remind yourself you can still enjoy Christmas without putting of a few kilos & MOST importantly get STRAIGHT BACK ON TRACK AFTERWARDS.

DO ANYWHERE WORKOUT

Start with a warm up, 5 minutes jogging or some skipping would be good.

Complete the following circuit with no rest in between exercises. Do 15 repetitions per exercise (or 15 each leg). Rest for 1-2 minutes after each circuit, aim for 3 circuits.

JUMPING JACKS – 1 MINUTE
SQUATS or SQUAT JUMPS
LUNGES or JUMP LUNGES
PUSHUPS (do as many on your toes before dropping to your knees)
MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS – 1 MINUTE
TRICEP DIPS WITH CHAIR
CRUNCHES WITH TWIST
REVERSE CRUNCHES
PLANK 1 MINUTE - 1 minute

REST 1-2 MINUTES AND REPEAT 2 MORE TIMES
* If you would like a copy of this routine with all the demonstrations included plese email me.

NUTRITION TIPS

• Eat well right up until Christmas, keep up with your normal routine for as long as possible.

• Plan to have a nice treat meal on Christmas day but keep all other meals clean and simple.

• Control your portions, have a bit of your favourites but don’t go overboard.

• If you have lots of Christmas functions try and make good choices whenever possible. Choose some seafood and salad or lean meals and veggies and limit the sweets

• Keep drinking plenty of water, especially if you are drinking alcohol. Try having a glasses of water before every drink as it will help to stop you drinking too much and you’ll feel so much better the next day.

• Realise the Christmas treats don’t have to go on for days afterwards. Give away any leftovers and aim to get straight back on track.

You can enjoy Christmas, have some treats and still feel great afterwards!

Have a wonderful Chrissy everyone, it looks like I'll be off having a baby!
