How I went this week:
Week 7 saw me face two food / alcohol related challenges. The first was dinner out at the pub (a nice one) with Chad and one of my sisters and her partner. She and I both had the fish (grilled barramundi - not a crumb / any batter in sight!) and ALL my chips (and I'm talking really really nice pub chips!!) went to Chad's plate. I had lots of good veges (broccoli and cauliflower) and really enjoyed the meal. I had no alcohol which for me, and considering the other three were drinking, was a big achievement. I went home feeling very proud of myself. It's a matter of learning that I don't need alcohol to have a good time.......... The second challenge was a wedding we went to on Saturday night. I vowed to eat to plan as much as possible and not to have any alcohol and I am really happy with how I went. I only ate the healthy finger food, and not too much (meatballs, plain prawns and a tiny piece of bruschetta) and scrapped the buttery sauce off my avocado stuffed chicken breast when the mains came out!! The other people at our table throught I was nuts and made endless comments about how I look fine and don't need to lose weight etc etc. I cut the (whole) chicken breast in half so as to stick to my 100g portion and gave the rest to Chad. I also did not eat the AMAZING dessert and had no alcohol. Now this certainly might seem boring and a little ridiculous to some, I mean it was a wedding. BUT it was the little brother of a friend of ours, so not a whole bunch of my friends having a good time, We hardly knew anyone and honestly it was so boring (maybe because I was sober!!) so I did not feel like I was 'missing out' on anything. The best part of the whole thing is that I learnt something about myself, that I CAN DO IT if I really want to. I lost another kilo this week and feel terrific.
What training I did:
Again I trained 7 days and enjoyed every minute of it. 7 sessions in all, and all saw me improve in some degree on last week.
How I’m feeling:
A whole lot calmer. I am finally sleeping again, having come off the medication I take at night to help with relaxing my racing thoughts, and feel great because of that. I have had several comments both at the gym and away from it, from people telling me I look great and that I am obviously working really hard and that it's paying off. Really, this means so much more to me than what I weigh! I am happy and content and the anxiety around feelings that I am going to stuff it all up somehow, are fading fast. I cannot tell you how much I owe to Hilde at this point. I tell her every week (atleast once!) that she is changing my life. She says it's me that's doing it but I know full well I was never going to get there on my own. I am still emailing her daily and this accountability is exactly what I need.
What I can do better next week:
Lift heavier, run faster, improve my times in all sessions. I write down what I do / lift etc each session and love pushing to beat myself each week. Eat clean, take good care of my family and smile everyday because I feel really alive right now. Have a great week everyone :) Ali
HILDS SAID: This is why I LOVE WHAT I DO! I'm so proud of what Ali is achieving and hope she takes the time to see just how far she has come in such a short space of time. I know a lot of people would be reading this and feeling so motivated!
